Our Story: Born in a Storm
My name is David Scott, Founder & President of LifeSecure.
As a seven-year-old boy growing up in the Philippines, I found myself in the direct path of a Category 4 super typhoon. My family narrowly escaped serious injury as powerful winds battered our home and rain poured inside.
But surviving the storm was only the beginning.
For two weeks afterward, we lived without electricity, running water, and many everyday necessities. We stood in line for water, boiled it over a charcoal grill to make it safe to drink, and learned firsthand how quickly normal life can change during a disaster.
This experience taught me a lesson that would shape the rest of my life: Emergencies don’t wait for you to get prepared. My family resolved never to be caught unprepared again, a commitment that carried me through decades of additional disasters, including typhoons, floods, earthquakes, blizzards, blackouts, industrial accidents, political unrest, and a global pandemic.
